TUNING CHECKLIST

Make sure to read through this and address any issues before setting a tuning appointment. Please keep in mind I'm only trying to save you time and money by having a car thats 100% ready to tune.

1) The engine must have good compression. Compression test results can not have more than 20psi variance between cylinders. I will not tune an car that is not fit to be tuned.

2) NO Check Engine Lights. Please notify me of any CEL issues you might be having so I can help you diagnose it before tuning.

3) The car must be safe. Brakes, suspension, tires and seatbelts all need to be functioning and safe. I will end a tuning session early if I feel it is unsafe, with no refund.

4) The car must be drivable. Meaning, it starts up every time. No problems with the battery, electrical or charging systems. The battery must have proper voltage and hold steady voltage under all load conditions.

5) No fluids leaking out of anywhere. Check your fluid levels. I will end a tuning session early if there is any risk of damage occurring.

6) The car must have an o2 sensor bung. This is necessary to install my wideband o2 sensor. I would prefer it be 16+ inches away from the turbo (if applicable).

7)The car must not have ANY exhaust leaks. A leak can interfere with wideband readings and make detonation very difficult to hear.

8) No boost leaks, broken couplers, clamps or vacuum leaks. They can be tricky to fix, take up precious tuning time and can require additional parts, which I likely don't have kicking around.

9) No overheating problems. I can't tune a car that overheats, nobody wants a blown engine.

10) Accessories. If you plan on running more than 11psi you NEED a different MAP sensor. GM 3 bars and Motorola 2.5-5 bar MAP sensors are common and easy to install. You will also need a way to turn up the boost, either a manual or electronic boost controller is required or change the spring(s) in the wastegate. A boost gauge is a good idea, but not necessary because the tuning software will show how much boost is being made.

11) Spark plugs. Make sure to have a new set of spark plugs of the proper heat range with you. I can gap them and install before tuning. I will provide the spark plugs, as long as you arrange this with me before tuning. I prefer NGK v-power and conveniently, they are one of the cheapest.

12) The car must be legal to drive on the street. No expired stickers, fake plates or borrowed plates.

I reserve the right to end the tuning session at any time for any reason at my discretion. A fee will be negotiated based on the situation. If I drove to your place to tune your car and I can't for a reason beyond my control or because your car wasn't ready to be tuned, due to a pre-existing issue, there will be a minimum charge of $100. If it was because my equipment malfunctioned, which does happen, a fee will be negotiated based on the situation and on an individual basis.
